Tangerang, August 30th, 2019 – Due to Apple's recall of
MacBook Pro (Retina 15-Inch) products as a result of the potential of battery
failure to pose a fire safety risk, Garuda Indonesia airlines issued a ban on
the transportation of these products (new or used) as a cargo (embargo).
The policy complies with the regulations issued by the European Union Aviation Safety
Agency (EASA) as well as regulations from the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations
(Special Provisions A154) related to a ban on carrying MacBook Pro (Retina 15-Inch) following
the problems with laptop batteries in Apple products, which has the potential
to cause interference with the aspects of aviation safety.
The ban on carrying MacBook devices is intended for
certain series (serial numbers) that were sold in the period between September 2015 and February
2017. For more information of product’s specifications that are prohibited on the aircraft, please visit https://support.apple.com/en-sg/15-inch-macbook-pro-battery-recall
Garuda Indonesia will continue to coordinate with

laptop device until further notice.
